Food Intolerance Testing
Did you know there have been over 140 different foods identified that may be causing adverse health reactions?
Food allergies have become increasingly common in the modern world, so much that it is estimated at least 30% of people worldwide will experience one or more episodes of food sensitivity in their lifetime. With the increase in reported cases, clinical research shows evidence that food sensitivities have a greater impact on health than originally thought.
When a food is ingested that one may be allergic to, the body releases histamines into the bloodstream, causing inflammation. If that food continues to be consumed, that inflammatory response can lead chronic conditions, such as, blood sugar imbalances, dermatitis, mental/emotional issues and gastrointestinal disorders.
Food allergies have a direct impact on the integrity of the gastrointestinal barrier. This barrier provides protection between the food consumed and the inside of the body. As long as it stays healthy and functioning efficiently, it only allows molecules in their simplest form to pass through to the other side. If that barrier is disrupted or compromised in any way, it becomes “leaky” and allows food particles into the bloodstream before they are properly digested. If the GI barrier is leaky, it is letting many different kinds of food particles into the bloodstream and overwhelming the immune system. This can make it difficult to narrow down what food(s) caused the disruption in the first place. Food intolerance testing takes the confusion out of figuring it out on your own.
Other common symptoms of food sensitivities include:
- Bloating/Gas
