Environmental Allergens Linked to Fibroids

Several new studies are adding to the evidence that estrogen-mimicking pesticides and industrial chemicals are leading to increase risk for uterine and ovarian diseases.

The relationship between endometriosis and environmental estrogens has been noted since 1993, but now the research is finally collaborating with each other.

High blood levels of estrogen-like pesticide HCH has been associated with increased endometriosis rates.  PCBs and DDT have also been associated with increased endometriosis rates in a study conducted in Italy in 2009.

Many other research studies have shown the relationship of ovarian and uterine disease with environmental estrogens.
