Are Hormone Pellet Insertions Right For You?

What are Hormone Pellet Insertions?
Renū Progressive Medicine is partnered with the BioTE® method of bio-identical hormone therapy. This is a subcutaneous pellet approach to BHRT to replace the hormones men and women lose as they age. Some patients report feeling symptom relief in as little as four weeks, but complete symptom relief may take up to six months. Renū’s certified BioTE providers customize each dose of pellet therapy to the patient’s needs and third-party testing maintains strict quality standards of sterility and potency to maximize safety and dosing accuracy.
Dr. Samantha Du Moulin and Dr. Nathan Wagner are certified BioTE Providers at Renū Progressive Medicine!
BioTE method of pellet therapy has helped thousands of people feel their best and achieve hormonal balance. Renū practitioners use BioTE method and bio-identical hormone pellets which contain bio-identical testosterone or estrogen. The pellets are placed subcutaneously in the body and release a continuous stream of bio-identical hormones. The pellets gradually dissolve and are absorbed into circulation. Collectively, BioTE practitioners have performed over 2 million pellet insertions since developing their proprietary method. Your practitioner at Renū is BioTE certified to customize each dose based on extensive lab work and standardized dosing methods.

How do I get started!
The first step to BHRT pellet insertion is consulting with our BioTE certified providers. Dr. Nathan Wagner and Dr. Samantha Du Moulin are the certified providers here at Renū. Our certified providers determine if patients are eligible for BHRT after an in-office appointment that includes a full explanation of everything involved and extensive lab work. If the patient is a candidate for BHRT using pellets, they are ready for a pellet insertion.
Insurance Coverage:
Does my insurance cover these? Well, no, unfortunately, the bio-identical pellet insertions are not covered by insurance. Your appointments and labs may be covered depending on your insurance. We are working closely with LabCorp and offering discounted labs for cash-paying patients.
What is the cost and how often do I need to come in?
The dosing schedule depends on what pellets you are having inserted and how your body metabolizes the pellets. Females generally need to have the pellets inserted 3-4 times a year while men generally need to have the pellets inserted 2-3 times per year.
The Pellet Insertion Method
During an in-office visit for the pellet insertion, a patient is brought into the exam room. It is a sterile procedure that involves the following:
- Insertion site: usually somewhere around the upper buttocks. The insertion site is determined through a physical exam.
- The insertion site is numbed.
- A small incision is made.
- The hormone pellet(s) are inserted.
- The insertion site is covered with a steri-strips and a bandage. The steri-strips and bandage can be removed in 3-7 days depending on gender.
- The pellet dissolves over time, and the body absorbs the contents, leaving nothing behind.
